HYROX Mumbai debut exceeds 1000 registrations, 2nd HYROX race in the works

Mumbai, 22 April 2025: The arrival of HYROX in the Indian subcontinent is proving to be a resounding success, with the debut race in Mumbai, scheduled for 3 May, already surpassing 1000 registered participants. This underscores the immense enthusiasm for the global fitness race in India.

HYROX has steadily grown its footprint across Europe, Americas and Asia Pacific region with successful races all over the world.. As the sport continues to expand, India’s debut has marked a strong start, reflecting the growing interest and enthusiasm for fitness racing in the country. The response has been encouraging, positioning India as an exciting new market for the sport of HYROX.

The overwhelming response to the Mumbai event has spurred organizers to accelerate plans for more races in India. Deepak Raj, Country head of HYROX India says that a second race will be launched shortly, even as preparations for the Mumbai launch are underway.

Shreyas Rao, a national track and field athlete and HYROX India Ambassador who has participated in 5 editions of HYROX across the world, shed light on the buzz around the event saying, “HYROX is happening in my own country for the first time and the interest in the event on social media is crazy. Personally, I myself am coaching about 40 trainees online for this race and have conducted a number of HYROX bootcamps around the country. So yeah, the excitement is very high, I am excited, my trainees are excited and I am sure everyone who has registered for this event is also very excited.”

HYROX is the world’s fastest-growing fitness race — featuring 1 km of running followed by a functional workout station, repeated 8 times. This strong showing highlights the significant demand for this unique fitness challenge in India. But HYROX is more than just a race, it’s a high-energy fitness party, designed for everyone. Beginners can take on the challenge through the Relay or Doubles formats, making it a race for EVERYBODY. The inaugural race in Mumbai will be hosted at NESCO Goregaon, across 13,000 sq. meters of fully air-conditioned indoor space.

DEEPAK RAJ, Country Head – HYROX India also weighed in saying, “We are absolutely thrilled by the response of launching HYROX in India. Reaching over 1,000 registrations within just 45 days of launching and numbers reflects the enthusiasm and readiness of India’s fitness community to embrace a global concept like HYROX. We are excited to introduce this sport to the country and are confident it will inspire people to adopt a healthier and more active lifestyle.

Globally, the HYROX phenomenon continues to surge. In the UK, the first HYROX London in 2021 attracted 455 participants. The demand has since exploded, so much so that a ballot system was introduced for the November 2024 HYROX London event to manage the overwhelming number of ticket requests.

The international appeal of HYROX is also evident in the Mumbai race, with over 24 nationalities already signed up to compete. This global turnout underscores the excitement surrounding HYROX’s debut in India.
