“PRO-CHESS-TA Hosts 2nd ProDG Classical Chess Tournament

Bhubaneswar, 28 September 2024 – The 2nd ProDG Classical Chess Tournament commenced today at Professional Chess Training Academy (PRO-CHESS-TA), Bhubaneswar. With over 100 participants, the tournament is set to surpass the prestigious and competitiveness of the state-level chess meets. The tournament which is being conducted by the Sports & Youth Services Department will run from 28th September to 2nd October, 2024.Additional Secretary, Sports and Youth Services Department, Sri B K Swain, graced the opening ceremony and extended best wishes to all participants. In his address he emphasised on PRO-CHESS-TA as a vital platform for nurturing chess talent in Odisha, highlighting the role of tournaments in preparing players for the upcoming National competitions.

Administrator, PRO-CHESS-TA, IM Swayangshu Satyapragyan shared that this year’s tournament will feature some of the finest international talents, including International Masters (IM) Rakesh Jena and Saundarya Pradhan, adding immense value and competitive edge to the event. He added that their participation alongside talented young players like Sriyansh Das and Priyansh Das promises a thrilling display of strategy, skill, and passion.

The 2nd ProDG Classical Chess Tournament is designed to provide emerging players with the a platform to sharpen their skills and gain valuable experience ahead of national-level competitions. It offers both seasoned and up-and-coming chess players an opportunity to compete at the highest level, fostering a competitive spirit crucial for success on larger stages. With chess gaining popularity in Odisha with ardent fans and exceptional players across age categories, the Department is commitment to supporting chess enthusiasts graduate from beginners to elite and excel at international stages.
