Yuvraj Singh Sandhu Crowned PGTI King, Sets Sights on Conquering Europe

Yuvraj Singh Sandhu has completed his mission. After coming agonizingly close in 2022, the 28-year-old from Zirakpur, Punjab, has won the Professional Golf Tour of India’s (PGTI) Order of Merit in emphatic, record-breaking style. www.telecomasia.net

His 2025 campaign was one for the history books: 7 tournament wins and total earnings of **₹1,91,67,100** from 19 events, cementing his status as one of India’s brightest golfing talents.www.telecomasia.net

But there’s little time to celebrate. Already back home and immersed in recovery sessions with his physiologist, Sandhu’s focus has sharply pivoted to an even bigger challenge: making his mark on the DP World Tour in 2026.

The Goal: Ending India’s European Title Drought

No Indian man has won on the European Tour (now DP World Tour) since Shubhankar Sharma’s victory in February 2018. Sandhu is determined to change that.

He plans to stick to the formula that brought him domestic dominance. “My approach will not be any different,” he stated, acknowledging only the need to adapt to colder European climates, a condition he says he welcomes.

The Winning Formula: Power and Precision

When asked what powered his historic PGTI season, Sandhu pointed to two key strengths honed with his coach. “Play off the Tee and into the green… really helped me gain a lot of advantage over the field,” he explained, emphasizing their work on course management and strategy.

He also brushed aside any concerns about competing with the world’s best drivers, revealing, “I am flying the ball from about 305-310 yards… my driving accuracy has pretty much been up there with Tour stats.”

No Holidays, Only Hard Work

Sandhu’s immediate focus is on recuperation from a grueling 15 tournaments in 17 weeks. “Athletes don’t have holidays – it’s just a myth,” he said with a smile. “It’s actually going back to the drawing board and working harder.”

This relentless drive is fueled by the excitement of the bigger stage. “I’m really blessed that I have a higher and bigger tour to play on. And that’s also what is pushing me more and more.”

A Dream Debut and a Role Model

The Dubai Desert Classic holds special significance for Sandhu. As a child I saw so many of these players like Tiger Woods and Adam Scott, Rory [McIlroy]… This is like a milestone for me,” he shared, recalling once admiring the trophy and thinking, “this would look really nice on my shelf.”

Speaking of Rory McIlroy, Sandhu named the World No. 2 as the player he most looks up to, recalling an inspiring 30-minute conversation with him.
